Going to be an abbreviated weekcap this week, as I am not at home. I am in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. If that sounds exciting, let me assure you, it is not.
I’m here for work, and the work was going well enough until the early afternoon when most of Cedar Rapids lost power. Being without power is something I am quite familiar with this year, but it is frustrating when you travel somewhere for work and then are unable to do anything because of no electricity. Fortunately, the power came back in a couple of hours, and we were able to get done most of what we needed to.
You may be wondering what there is to do in Cedar Rapids. Apparently, not much. The town seems to be mostly known for having a horrific flood a couple of years ago. And that’s about it. Of course, since it is grey, cold, and windy here, I wasn’t really in the mood to tour the city anyway. So maybe it is for the best.
On the bright side, my hotel has been quite nice. If you ever go to Cedar Rapids, I strongly recommend the Cooper’s Mill Best Western.
Random Thought of the Week
Since there are very few direct DC to Cedar Rapids flights, I had a stop in Chicago. Have you ever noticed that if you have an layover of a decent length, your flight will inevitably arrive early? But if you have a short connection, your flight will surely be delayed. I was supposed to be in Chicago for about 75 minutes. But somehow we arrived half an hour early. I suppose it is better than missing my flight.
It would have been nice if my second flight had been the early one, but of course that didn’t happen.
During my layover, I spent some time in the newsstand, and I once again have to wonder: Who buys porn in an airport newsstand? I suppose that people must do it since they continue to sell it. But it just seems weird.

ESPN The Magazine teamed up with Marvel Comics to make faux comic covers for each team. They’re pretty awesome. Here’s the one for the 76ers:
That’s all for this week. I’d like to say that I’ll write more next week, but considering I’ll be in Moonachie, New Jersey, I can’t really promise that.
Yes, next week, my work will bring me to Moonachie. The fun just doesn’t stop.
